Barletta in the 19th Century

Guided tour to the De Nittis Art Gallery hosted in the magnificent Palazzo della Marra. An unexpected sensory journey through oil paintings, pastels, watercolors, and engravings created between Barletta, Naples, Paris, and London by one of the most famous European painters in the second half of the 19th century, Giuseppe De Nittis, born in 1846 in Barletta and now considered an Italian Impressionist in Paris.

The exhibition of the collection, donated to the Puglian city in 1913 by the French wife of the painter, Léontine Gruvelle De Nittis, is curated by Renato Miracco, an international art historian.

Following that, a visit inside the 19th-century theater 'Giuseppe Curci.' Inaugurated in 1872 and built with municipal funds by the architect Santacroce, it is a jewel of art and acoustics, immediately dubbed 'il piccolo San Carlo' for its beauty and elegance comparable to the Naples theater, albeit on a smaller scale.

Tasting of local products at the end of the tour.
